Beginning October 1, Mary Wood Weldon Memorial Library card holders in Glasgow will need to enter a PIN to log in to their Libby and Overdrive accounts.
Library officials say the change is part of an update by Overdrive aimed at strengthening the security of user accounts.
According to the library, the new PIN requirement will not create an additional number for patrons to remember.
The PIN for Libby and Overdrive will match the existing library card PIN, which is the last four digits of each patron’s library card number.
That means anyone who already uses their PIN for other library services will continue to use the same digits when signing in to the Libby or Overdrive apps.
The library is encouraging patrons to check their cards now so they are ready for the October 1 change.
Patrons who are unsure of their library card number or PIN, or who have trouble logging in after the update, can contact the library directly for assistance.
