Glasgow will mark Veterans Day with a dinner Nov. 10 and a parade and bench dedication Nov. 11, according to Matt Mutter. He outlined the activities during an interview on WCLU with Todd Steenbergen.

The annual Veterans Day dinner will take place Tuesday, Nov. 10, at the National Guard Armory in Glasgow. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., and dinner begins at 6:30 p.m.

Veterans attend free, while the meal costs $10 for others. Gale ‘n’ Dale’s will provide the food, Mutter said.

The dinner includes a guest speaker and the annual Patriot of the Year awards. Mutter said attendance typically ranges from 200 to 250 people.

South Central Bank will hold its appreciation breakfast that morning for veterans and first responders. Those invited include police, fire department and ambulance service personnel, according to the interview.

The Veterans Day parade begins at noon Wednesday, Nov. 11. Participating veterans should gather around 11:15 to 11:30 a.m. at the former Save-A-Lot parking lot on South Green Street, Mutter said.

The parade will proceed around the square to the veterans wall, where a guest speaker and short program are planned. Last year’s parade was canceled because of weather, Mutter said.

A new bench in Beula C. Nunn Park will also be dedicated Wednesday. The Edmund Rogers chapter placed it as part of the America 250 anniversary celebration and to honor veterans, according to the interview.
