STAFF REPORT
Glasgow News 1
South Central Bank will host a free breakfast for veterans, their families and first responders Tuesday, Nov. 10, at its operations center. The event is in its 20th year.
Doors will open at 6:30 a.m., and the program will begin promptly at 7 a.m. The event is expected to end around 9 a.m.
The Glasgow Police Department color guard will present the colors. The Pledge of Allegiance will follow, along with the national anthem sung by the Glasgow Show Choir.
Matt Mutter will read the names of veterans who have died. During a WCLU Coffee and Conversation interview, Allen Handley said the reading is a way to continue honoring their service.
The breakfast began as an employee idea rather than a corporate initiative, Owen Lambert said during the interview. Groups of employees entirely funded and organized the first few breakfasts.
Hanldey said employees continue to embrace the event and describe it as one of their favorite activities of the year. He also said the breakfast gives participants an opportunity to return, sit together and talk.
“We are extremely grateful for the service of our Veterans and First Responders,” said Lambert. “Their dedication to duty allows us the freedoms and security we enjoy every day. We owe these courageous men and women a tremendous debt of gratitude.”
The event will be at South Central Bank Operations Center, 501 S. L. Rogers Wells Blvd.,
